When you're in the market for a new home, you'll likely come across three main types: custom, semi-custom, and spec homes. Understanding the differences between them can help you make the best decision for your budget, timeline, and lifestyle.

Custom Homes are designed and built entirely to your specifications. You'll have a say in everything from the floor plan to the finishes. This option gives you the most flexibility but can take longer and require more involvement.

Semi-Custom Homes offer some personalization within a framework. You can often choose from preset floor plans and select your finishes. It's a nice middle ground that offers customization without the complexity of a fully custom build.

Spec Homes are built by developers without a specific buyer in mind. They're move-in ready or near completion, which makes them great for quicker timelines. However, customization is usually limited or not an option at all.

Each type has its benefits. If you're short on time, a spec home might be your best bet. If you're dreaming of a specific layout or style, a custom home could be worth the wait.
